Setting the Stage

In August 2019, Reddit user u/betweenheadphones decided to embark on a weight loss journey. At 25 years old, 6'2" tall, and weighing 168lbs, he was not necessarily overweight, but he realized he could feel and look better.

Tracking Progress

To monitor his progress, u/betweenheadphones took weekly photos and measurements of his body, as well as calculated his BMI (which was 21.6 when he started, a healthy weight in the normal range). He also used the MyFitnessPal app to log his meals and ensure he was staying within his daily caloric goals.

Optimizing Diet

One of the key changes u/betweenheadphones made was to pay closer attention to what he ate. He reduced his intake of carbohydrates, sugar, and processed foods, and instead focused on consuming more protein, healthy fats, and vegetables. He also tried to eat more slowly and mindfully, and avoid snacking late at night. He consistently stayed within his daily caloric limits, and occasionally incorporated cheat meals to avoid feeling restricted.

Exercising Regularly

u/betweenheadphones also started to exercise more regularly. He joined a gym where he would do weightlifting and cardio exercises 5-6 days a week. He gradually increased his training intensity and added more variety to his workouts. Additionally, he made sure to prioritize recovery by stretching, using foam rollers, and getting enough sleep.

A Healthy Body and Mind

By the end of October 2019, u/betweenheadphones had achieved his initial goal of reaching 154lbs, losing 14lbs in just a few months. But more importantly, he had gained a healthier and happier body and mind. He reported feeling more energized, productive, and confident, and even received compliments from friends and family on his transformation. His journey serves as an inspiration for anyone looking to improve their physical wellness and overall quality of life.
