The Journey from Chubby to Overweight

Kimburly, a Reddit user, grew up a little chubby but at some point crossed the line to the overweight category. She tried to lose weight numerous times but would end up gaining back whatever she lost. A few photos made her aware of the amount of weight she has gained. The wake-up call was when the scale hit 160lbs at the doctor's office in January 2015.

Small Changes that Helped

She gave up on diets and decided to make small changes that can accumulate over time. Kimburly started to use a FitBit to measure how sedentary she was and worked in more steps throughout the day. She also started to cut down on eating out and eating fast food, limited red meat, and had more vegetables in every meal. She made it a point to incorporate other sources of protein that are not meat. She started to go on outdoor walks and got a membership at their local recreation center to access weights and a pool for swimming laps.

Losing 24lbs Through Consistency and Patience

Over the past year and a half, she lost around 24lbs. Her 5'1" frame shows a noticeable difference. Kimburly still aims to reach 120lbs but has no rigid timeframe to achieve it. She believes that making small changes that can accumulate over time is the key to maintaining the current weight, and by working more on strength training now, her body shape can improve as well. The journey has been a slow but steady process. Kimburly was able to maintain her weight loss and did not see any loose skin, which she attributes to the gradual change in her habits.

Celebrating Success

Kimburly's progress was celebrated not just by herself but by other users on the Reddit thread. Fellow short girls commended her for being an inspiration, and most can see the transformative power of changing habits gradually. Kimburly's mantra of being more supportive and less hard on herself is what propelled her to success.

Takeaway

Changing habits may not show overnight results, but patience and consistency do pay off. Kimburly's weight loss journey shows how a positive mindset and incremental changes can significantly impact health outcomes. Small changes like limiting fast food, adding in more steps, and doing bodyweight exercises can make a difference in one's weight and overall health. Start by loving yourself more, being more supportive, and less hard on yourself.
