F/27/5'10 [250lb > 160lb = 90lb] (2 yrs) I have been blind to my progress until today. I didn't realize I had come so far. I was an alcoholic, depressed, lonely person, but I faced my darkness, met my partner here on Reddit, moved to Sweden, and overcame. I still have more, but I know it's doable.

Blind to progress

User Kaldea dropped 90lbs over two years thanks to the support she found on Reddit. Though she was blind to her progress, she credits the website with helping her handle depression, quit smoking, and drinking, and take up running and swimming.

Beyond transformation

Kaldea's journey toward a healthier lifestyle went beyond just shedding pounds. She also took better care of her skin and learned Swedish. And she met her life partner through Reddit, moved to Sweden, and faced her darkness head-on.

A community of support

Kaldea thanks a number of subreddits for their role in her success, from r/loseit to r/progresspics, r/stopsmoking, r/stopdrinking, r/asianbeauty, and r/swimming. She wishes all those willing to fight for a healthier life all the success in the world.

Overcoming obstacles

For Kaldea, the biggest obstacle was handling her depression. She says once she was able to start loving herself, taking care of herself became easier. Weight loss was just one part of the journey toward a healthier and happier life.

A message of hope

Kaldea's story shows the transformative power of self-care and the importance of having a support network. For those working to overcome depression and lose weight, she encourages them to take things one day at a time, remain positive, and be willing to fight for a better life.
